News & insights Rachel Roche signs publishing deal with Law Society Publishing 3 minutes of reading - Written by Roche Legal Rachel Roche, the founder of multi-award winning Roche Legal, has signed a deal with the Law Society to write a guide to setting up a new firm at a time of dramatic change in the legal profession. Rachel, who has offices in York and Harrogate, will join forces with Darren J. Sylvester, founding director of DJS Law Solicitors, to produce the book which she hope will become a practical guide for those wanting to go it alone in the profession with their work to be published in September. A recent winner of the prestigious Private Client Award at the Yorkshire Legal Awards, Roche Legal was Highly Commended in the Excellence in Private Client Practice at the Law Society 2019 Excellence Awards just 12 months after Rachel collected the Law Society Sole Practitioner of the Year Award. Roche Legal have been breaking new ground with development and launch of a cutting-edge online Will writing and Lasting Power of Attorney programme and are currently developing “Solicitor Check”, an online programme that will that will help people understand the legal advice providers in the market, the protections afforded to them and how legal professionals are regulated. Rachel said: “With the book we want to be up to speed with the changes happening to modernise the legal profession and help change perceptions. This is an exciting time with real headway being made with the introduction of new technology to help both the legal profession and our clients. I regularly get requests for help and information from other solicitors and we want this book to be a very practical guide by looking at the profession in a different way.” “The book will be published in September next year and will serve as a real update on the advice being offered to people who want to set up their own firm. Change is good and the legal profession is increasingly embracing new ideas. It wasn’t that long ago that solicitors weren’t allowed to advertise their services.” Roche Legal has recently opened a new office in Harrogate in addition to their York base.
